                      Ashley Marie...vocals

                      Picture
I have been singing professionally for over a decade. I started by singing country and oldies. These were the days of matching sequined suspenders, double denim and opening for the square dance squad. We racked up a lot of community service hours and free funnel cakes, but I did it mostly to meet boys. This effort was not so successful, as I later learned, most boys in the Performing Arts were not…how to say this? I will just note that they rather enjoyed the sequins.

I was singing all Country music and began working with local bands for fill-in gigs. A local radio station, Froggy 100.7, held a competition to determine the opening act for a 20,000 person field concert. The headliners included Jeff Carson, Shenandoah, John Anderson and Martina McBride. My family has always been extremely supportive. Bless mom, who sent in my demo and this kid, (right here!) won the competition. It was a fantastic experience and with the support of McDaniel College, my parents and fan club president Janice Cool, I went on to open up for more great Country acts such as, Mila Mason, Lorrie Morgan, Gary Allen, Chad Brock, The Dixie Chicks and The Charlie Daniels Band.

Louie Armstrong once said “there are only two kinds of music: good and bad.” As my musical tastes expanded, so did the music I chose to perform. My main influences include: Silverchair, Jenny Lewis, Counting Crows, The Dixie Chicks, TOOL, Jimmy Eat World, Elvis, Coheed & Cambria, Garth Brooks, Gwen, Janis Joplin and Keith Urban. The bands I have been in are: The Dixie Hiway Band - Southern Rock and Classic Country, On the Rise – Modern Country and Classic Rock, Silver Run – Modern Country, Originals and Classic Rock, Ashley Marie and Family – Modern Country, Originals, Classic and Modern Rock, Redline – Classic Rock, Modern Rock and Top 40, and now, Vinyl Rhino. This band has the best set-list and energy level I have ever experienced. Come to a show, introduce yourself and have a drink with us, (on break or on stage)! It is hard to believe I get paid sing in a rock band. Ok, mostly, I still do it to meet boys…
