I've been hitting things since I can remember, desktops, pillows, you name it.  When I was about 9, my dad brought his old kit to the house and my brother Paul and I started playing.

I never took formal lessons, I simply learned by listening to other people play.  From an early age I could always keep a beat, basically counting to four and knowing where the bass drum and snare drum hits were.  My playing grew from there.  While growing up I would play air drums along to the radio and tapes of my favorite bands and would eventually learn the songs.  From there I continued to expand to the point that I started playing in bands.

My past band history is all of local variety.  I've done everything from thrash metal to jam bands.  From 1994-1998 and again from 2001-2004, I did extensive gigging within the DC/Baltimore region in bands such as The Nut Squad, Junk Nugget, Black Bean Soup, Backspin, Full Steam, and Witzend.

My influences include Neil Peart of Rush, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Carter Beauford of The Dave Matthews Band, Chad Smith of the Chili Peppers, and Danny Carey of Tool.  I draw from all of these in my playing to create a style that has groove, power, finesse, and a little swing.

I'm the classic example of a “rock drummer.”  I listen to all different kinds of music, but all I ever wanted to do was play in a rock band.  The music I listen to includes Big Band, Jazz, Jam-based rock, Progressive rock, and plain ol' Rock-n-Roll.  Bands that head my list of favorites include, The Black Crowes, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Rush, Metallica, and my all-time favorite - Pearl Jam.  Throw in some Rolling Stones and The Allman Brothers and I'm pretty much set.

We're all very excited to be back playing in the band and I look forward to getting out and seeing all of our friends again.

Hail to the Redskins!
